As
Chief of the RGL Fire Company,
I'd like to welcome you to our
web page.
The
Fire Company is located in
upstate New York about twenty
five minutes west of Johnstown.
The district consists of
approximately twenty-five square
miles of rolling hills with
heavily wooded areas and some
open fields. Part of the
district is located in the
Adirondack Park. The Adirondack
Park is a forest preserve that
includes; forests, lakes;
wilderness trails; mountains and
rich timber producing lands. Our
district has three (3) main
roadways, many secondary roads,
logging roads and trails.
Because of the vast geological
differences throughout our
district, our calls include EMS,
motor vehicle accidents,
structure fires, wild land fires
and haz-mat incidents.
Over the years, the fire service
has changed dramatically,
especially after September 11th.
As a volunteer company, we are
striving to keep up with these
changes. In the past ten years,
we have built two new
firehouses, purchased two new
fire trucks and a rescue sled,
command center/trailer. I am
very proud of the establishment
of our rescue sled/command
center which will not only help
our district, but neighboring
districts in Fulton and
Montgomery Counties. I feel
camaraderie between fire
districts, police agencies, and
emergency medical services is
very important to all our
successes.
As
with any volunteer organization,
participation is critical. We
are always in need of
volunteers, whether you fight
fires, respond to EMS calls, or
help out at fund raisers. Any
time you can donate is always
appreciated.
In
closing, I would like to thank
our community for their
tremendous support of the RGL
Fire Company.
Sincerely,
Mark Souza, Chief
